I powered it with a usb adapter plugged into the generator because when I tried a 9 volt battery, it emptied the battery in 3 days if I did not disconnect it in the morning( and I did not want the hassles of having to remove the battery every day). Very easy to wire and they do not interfere with each other, so multiples can be used near each other without problems. I used a Cable Matters usb hub power brick to power it and it has enough residual power to latch the ground to the coil for shutdown without problems.
