I have found that back braces retard muscle development and overall create dependency. These neoprene belts offer a tactile feel of support, buty also warmth that keeps the muscles loose and limber. I have had several and really wanted something wider than the average belt (maybe 8"). This was the widest belt i could find, but is a little thinner that i would prefer. Another irritant is that the velcro closure is the full width of the belt, so often it could rub and irritate your skin if you are not careful. But for me being taller - i love the width. It covers my whole Lumbar spine and gives me a feeling of being together.
