The size is perfect for stuffing into backpacks, attache' cases, etc, and if you're not fussy about not having beige paper or an elastic band to hold the book closed, it could give the Moleskine a run for its money as a great place to keep a journal. Note that the first ruled page and the last ruled page of these books are "binding pages" Their inside edges are glued to the heavier pages attached to the hard cover. DO NOT try to peel this page away from the heavier paper or you'll seperate the book from it's cover. (Just so you know, Moleskines are constructed the exact same way.) I'm definitely planning to buy more as I need them. This is a great, general purpose notebook that will take a beating and come back for more. Good quality, narrow 1/4" ruled pages.
