Spent a little more and bought this pack.A++ I really love this pack. I have it outfitted as a in car BOB. It holds it all with some spare room for a 4 person family pack but it's a small bag so it doesn't take up all the room in my car. With Molle straps on the front and sides you can add as much as you like. ( I have a medical pack i attach and 2 grenade pouches on the side (1 not shown in pics)Largest opening is a clam shell, with 2 large pocket. I keep space blankets, ponchos and a fleece blanket in there. The fleece blanket takes up a tonnn of room in the pack, it's winter here, durring the spring-fall this will be a change of clothes.Next is a half zip opening but a deep pocket. It has my n95 masks, 8 pouches of water, 8 clif bars (not shown in pics) zip ties, water purification straw, garabage bags, zip lock bags, sas survival pocket guide.On the outer top pouch (smallest) I keep tp bug spray and sun screen with half the pouch empty. Easy access for used frequent items.Outer lower pouch has a pocket organizer built in, with gloves, crank light, water proof matches, small army knife, small multi tool, can opener and (lighter, sharpe, paper that aren't shown in pics) this pocket is only half full.Using the webbing i strapped 2 grenade pouchs on the side for misc easy access items like paracord and spare eye glasses. On the other side i strapped a gerber ultimate survival knife to it. With the pack on I can very easily pull it out without removing my pack. Also have a few caribeaners and a whistle/compas/thermometer on the outside.I also added a rip away medical pouch to the bottom with - ice pack, burn gel, clotting sponge, spray antiseptic, tape, ace bandage, tweezers, sting relief, 10 nitrile gloves, wound seal,anti radiation pills, wound steri strips, cotton balls, butterfly closures, band aids, wipes, anti diarrheal, gauze dressings, disposable thermometer, mole skin, Tylenol, and anti itch lotionThis pack compresses with its straps well and when on my back feels very tight and centered, I could easily carry it all day without any real discomfort. Small? This back pack is molle. It can be as big as you want it. Is this backpack narrow. Yes, it is but you have room to add things like a Condor water bottle pouch or two to the sides without having them in the way of your arms on the back swing when your walking. In mine I have in the main compartment a Hennessy 70D polyester Hex rainfly and some freeze dried food, a pack Golock and room for a pants. Shirt and socks. The next compartment I have a camping pillow and a Lafuma Extreme 700 XL sleeping bag. The larger of the two on the front has my tooth paste, tooth brush and so on. The top small one is empty for snacks and such. On the outside I have two Water bottle pouches. One has my Snow peak starter kit (stove, fuel, spoon , cup and coffee press) and a squishy bowl and cup. In the pocket on the pouch I have Instant oatmeal, Hot coco mix and coffee. Attached to the pouch I have a grenade pouch to hold fire making stuff. On the other side of the pack I have another Water bottle pouch with a 32oz water bottle. In the pocket I have more room for coffee and treats. On the outside of the front lower pocket I have another grenade pouch and small rolly polly pouch for things like Mushrooms and such that I find along the trail (or another water bottle). Clipped to the upper compression straps on either side is a ENO hammock and bug net with the lower compression straps holding them in place. To the bottom I have a sleeping mat. If you want to carry things like LP records with turntable and a desk top computer it will be to small. If you want to carry a Ipod touch (or Iphone) and a 7" tablet this pack is way big!!!! I got this 2 days before the storm hit and was tasked with riding out the storm at my place of employment in a hospital for estimated 2.5 days. Easily packed up everything I needed, bugout style. was able to pack up scrubs and undergarments for 3 days, 1 set of sleep clothes, toiletries, lightweight compact microfiber towel, phone, charge cables, 2 battery banks, 2 books, stethescopes, scissors, and also managed rig sleep system carrier from Molle II ruck sack with my old school issue sleeping bag. plus a few other bugout necessities. Total weight I would guess close to 40lbs. I'll weight it later after my co-worker is awake and probably take a picture or 2. I'm even bumping rating up to 5 at this point,Just got this last night to replace a very cheap and free shoulder bag I got as a freebee from my employer. This thing is all but perfect. I am also retired military and the construction on this seems very formidable and comparable to military issue. Being from Germany, I'm not surprised by it's quality. It has butt loads of molle webbing for building up this ruck. It is also expandable with compression straps. For the compact size I am really impressed. It also has a decent compartment to easily fit a 3l hydration bladder. 4 main compartments with plenty of webbed pouches inside for organization. For bare minimalists, it would be perfect for up to 3 days on the trail or bugging out due to the molle attachment points.
