Vertical Grade laminate is not recommended for countertops or any surface that will likely see a lot of use. Thickness’ can range from .027″ (0.7mm) nominal to .029″ (.7mm) nominal. Hot cookware can leave permanent burn marks on many countertop surfaces, including laminate; use a trivet, insulated hot pad or other protective device beneath all hot cookware, heat generating appliances or other heated objects . One end of the Formica was damaged, chipped, possibly during shipping and when cutting the shipping tape it cracked part way through the 8 foot length.
