I purchased about 4 cases before getting this one for my Iphone 5s. It may not give you the protection of an OtterBox, but it does give you decent protection, very lightweight, does not add any bulk to the phone, and looks good. My biggest complaint with the other cases is that they did not have grippy sides. Most of the other cases had smooth sides. I felt the phone was going to slip out of my hand. This case has a nice textured sides that grip. I had the same case on my iPhone 4s and it lasted two years without breaking. I also dropped my 4S several times with no damage. They were easy to put on, flexible, didn't slide, and provided a kind of rubbery protection. However, they stretched and my phone kept popping out, which was really concerning while pulling it in and out of pockets and purses. A lot of close calls, so I went on the search for a new case.I found this one and the price was surprisingly reasonable, and the reviews really favorable, so with nothing to lose I ordered it. While it IS a little tough to get on the first time (really snug) it stays put and doesn't scratch the sides. I like the small lip on the front to keep the screen off of a surface.By far, my 5 stars are all owed to a horrible drop. My phone flew off of a pile I was carrying at the top of basement steps. The phone hit the corner of the top transition strip, which is metal and bounced down 3 or 4 solid wood steps. The sound was deafening and I was absolutely certain that my screen was shattered or that my phone wouldn't even work. I picked it up, terrified, and it was 100% fine, not even a tiny scratch or dent or anything. I know if I'd still had it in my old case it would have popped out, but this one held tight, kept it safe, and really protected all the surfaces. Very good side grips. I would be concerned if you drop your phone in this case. It might be good if you change your cases based upon activity. This one would be for on your desk or over carpet. Not bulky at all. If your worried about your iphone slipping out of your hand this is much better than most cases and may protect for very short falls. Does not slide down slight inclines. I am using it until I find a more padded case. I did not like the grip of the Otterbox Commuter, which I have. It is way too slippery on the sides. I realize I'm rambling.
