I absolutely LOVE this pitcher, but was ready to toss it due to the mold, but THERE IS A FIX. There is a video on youtube that shows how in addition to the the rubber gasket coming off, the other pieces of the lid screw apart so that they can all be washed -- including the small space inside the lid. Search "Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Clean Lid." So I definitely recommend the pitcher, but my advice is to look at the instructions, because I tossed them, and the lid is amazing, but it took me forever to figure out how to use it. **Q: can you pour boiling water into this pitcher?** A: No, they do not work well for boiling water. However, I use these pitchers for making ice tea brewed between 165F and 185F and they work great. Even at these lower temperatures, the thermal shock will break them unless you temper them. Just pour a few ounces of your hot liquid into the pitcher and slosh it around for a minute. This will prepare the glass for the hotter temperatures to come. Then slowly pour the rest. **Q: Anyone know if this product was made in China? Concerned about the use of lead in glass.** A: No it's made in Italy **Q: The posting says "68 oz" but the first bullet says "2 pints." The questions also have varying sizes. I love the size and the square shape of the pitcher, and they are very well-made. Unfortunately, the lids have been a big disappointment. I have had no problem getting a tight seal, but they are made entirely of plastic, are hard to clean thoroughly, and I can't find replacements for them. They seem to be an odd size (3.25" inside diameter, 4.25" outside,) or I don't know how to measure properly - not sure which, and my research has not enlightened me. I requested help from Bermiolli Rocco a few years ago and their response actually made me sad - that is how much I love these pitchers. I asked BR for replacement lids, citing the design flaws and that there seemed to be no way to get new gaskets. They responded by asking me for proof of purchase. That may not seem like a big deal, I could have proved my purchase and probably should have just done so, but it put me off. First of all, I contacted them via the link provided with my Amazon purchase. Secondly, the company must've realized these lids have issues, I knew I couldn't be the first to notice. (Judging by other reviews here, I'm not.) Finally, I would've paid for new lids if necessary, and said so! ...and why would I go to the trouble of scamming someone for *pitcher lids*, anyway?? I mean. At some point, I discovered the lids do come apart for cleaning, which was helpful. However, there is a deep crease in the center that is impossible to get completely clean, and I still don't like that they are entirely made of plastic - BPA free or not - and that there are no replacements available, not even gaskets. I will continue to use the pitchers, which are wonderful, but will have to recycle/repurpose the lids and use stopgap measures until I can come up with a better solution. It's a shame that I couldn't give these wonderful pitchers a glowing, 5-star rave, but the problematic lids and lack of solutions offered by the company have taken a star off this review. Considering the price, I'd have taken off another half star, if it were an option.
