Review: Excellent performance even in a very small case and an overclocked CPU - I bought this heatsink in order to build a decent gaming computer in a very small case (Geeek A31) and I couldn't be happier. It cools an overclocked Ryzen 5 1600 (3.8 GHz) and never gets warmer than 72ºC under heavy load. The sound of the fan is very low, ideal for a silent computer. Either the fan or the aluminium block are very good quality and look gorgeous. The only drawback is the fact that you have to pay +£10 just to get this black version. If you don't mind the colour, just go for regular Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 so you can save some money.

A: I have been running my rig ITX Gigabyte X570 MOBO with AMD 5600g base 3.9 at 4Ghz and it has not over heated yet. It does run more at higher RPMs, but so far so good.

**Q: Will it come with the alternative mounting option for the msi B550i ?**
A: Should come with both mounting hardware , but to be 100% sure make sure you purchase the one that says specifically with socket mounting hardware it comes with.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent performance even in a very small case and an overclocked CPU

I bought this heatsink in order to build a decent gaming computer in a very small case (Geeek A31) and I couldn't be happier. It cools an overclocked Ryzen 5 1600 (3.8 GHz) and never gets warmer than 72ºC under heavy load. The sound of the fan is very low, ideal for a silent computer. Either the fan or the aluminium block are very good quality and look gorgeous. The only drawback is the fact that you have to pay +£10 just to get this black version. If you don't mind the colour, just go for regular Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 so you can save some money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great cooler, great quality, but... Check the backplate fits your motherboard unlike me

While the cooler and parts are really well made, the backplate does NOT support all AM4 motherboards, my motherboard has cut outs on the stock backplate for chips so you cannot use the provided Noctua backplate, not unless you cut into it or modify it, otherwise you need to use the screws to mount the fan to mount the block through the stock motherboard backplate and find other screws for the fan to mount to the cooler block. Personally I had to modify the fan shroud a little bit on the edges where the screws go through so that the only screws I had would fit would reach the cooler but you can hardly notice that at all in the case due to it being dark and enclosed anyway (See image of cooler attached) The backplate in use is the stock MSI B550I motherboard one, with the fan screws being the same size thread as the mounting screws I was able to use those to mount things perfectly without any problems (Not my first PC by far, custom building for YEARS so I know when is safe to do so) The backplate provided by Noctua in the listing images do NOT have those extra top and bottom cut outs, something that I missed when I made my purchase so I was unable to use it, but I was able to work around that with an hour or two of carefully tweaking the fan. All in all had I not run into that issue I'd say 10/10 but because the listing did not match what I expected when it said compatible with AM4 motherboards and not being clear I'd say maybe a 9 though I do also take responsibility for not checking the pictures as carefully and tearing down my system before hand to double check, great product otherwise and runs cooler than my 240mm AIO I had before
