I take raw wool, scour it, card it, and then spin it into yarn. I over-scoured a batch of very expensive wool from a rare breed of sheep. I bought this to add a small amount of lanolin back into the wool in an attempt to save it. I melted a small chunk with boiling water and added a drop or two of dawn dishwashing detergent. After mixing, I let the mixture cool enough to add the wool without shocking it and let it soak in the lanolin mixture until it cooled significantly. I then let the wool dry. It worked marvelously.I now use the lanolin on my dry and cracking heels - barely any on the bottom of my feet with a pair of socks when I sleep. After three nights my heels were not cracking any more. They also were not greasy. It is the only thing that keeps my lips from being miserably chapped. Besides moisturizing them, it has stopped me from licking my lips. It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't taste good either. I notice when I lick them and have been able to control my subconscious licking by bringing it to mind when I do it. You hardly need any of this stuff. I noticed after I dug the chunk out to re-lanolize my wool, it is easier to get a little out of the container on your finger. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A life saver for me! *by C***N on November 21, 2017* After trying just about every hand lotion out there, this stuff is the only thing that helped my chapped hands and cracked cuticles. It is very thick and more difficult to apply now with the colder weather. I use a hair dryer to heat the surface momentarily and then apply it to my hands. It takes a few minutes before the "sticky" feeling goes away and the lotion is fully absorbed into your skin. It does have a little bit of an odor to it, but nothing to be concerned about. As a matter of fact, I would rather have this odor, which doesn't last long, over the heavily perfumed hand lotions. The relief, however, lasts for a long time, no matter what I do. If you work with chemicals and/or have sensitive skin because of previous exposures to ethyl methyl bad stuff like I have, this might be the ticket. I used to resort to prescription strength hydrocortisone to relieve my symptoms, but ever since I started using this lotion, my hand problems have vanished. Lanolin may not be the solution for every one, but it's definitely worth a shot. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great lower-smell product in comparison to other products *by T***Z on November 2, 2018* I use lanolin because of year-round eczema on my hands and dry elbows on myself as well as my dog has rough paws. Lanolin heals my elbows and helps my eczema but doesn't heal it.I have extreme sensitivities when it comes to smells and regular lanolin like the NOW product, which has a much lower price point, immediately assaulted my sensibilities and kicked my lungs into a full-on asthma attack. The inVitamin Pharmaceutical Grade Lanolin was something I was originally hoping was completely scent-free because it was pharmaceutical grade, but unfortunately for myself, it's not. Even though it's not scent-free the smell doesn't bother me enough to trigger an asthmatic reaction so I'm very happy to continue using it.The texture/color is different than the Lansinoh brand that I was previously using, which is completely scent-free, but I like the inVitamin better. It's still thick and tacky, but not AS thick as the other brand. I previously would have mixed some castor oil in to thin it down some, so now I don't need to do that as much. It's not a hard lanolin, it's easy enough to rub your finger over the top layer and warm it a bit to take some product off and use right away. Alternatively, you could easily depot it into a smaller travel container and stick it in your bag to take with you on the go if you needed, which is something I do quite often. This product is also way more cost effective than the Lansinoh brand!!Ultimately, I'd recommend the inVitamin for your lanolin needs if you don't want to be assaulted with the barnyard scent like the NOW version does but want a more cost effective product than the Lansinoh. I find this to be the sweet spot in the middle and you get a TON of product. With as little as I use at a time, I think this would last me five years... Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if it has an expiration.
