But i would caution not to overtighten the screws. This may deform the plastic resulting in a leak **Q: Is the cable ablento be trimmed or does it require using the entire legenth** A: Word to the wise: Shorten it as much as possible to reduce curves/friction. Right now dealing with replacing a 6' cable in a 2-year-old travel trailer that has already failed because it's in a full 6' loop. **Q: Will this valve directly bolt to / replace a Bristol 3" cable valve without having to cut and replace any pipe?** A: It was a direct replacement for a valve on my black tank in my 2009 Montana 5th wheel RV. I just unbolted the old valve, removed it and slid the new one into place. The only part that is adjustable is the cable length in case you need to shorten it to fit. I'm not sure if the old valve was a Bristol 3" or not, it was what was what the factory installed when the trailer was built. It should fit a 3" outlet from either of the tanks (grey or black). I am very happy with the new valve and it operates a lot smoother than the original valve. **Q: what are the pipe to flange adapters people are commenting about not being included in the kit?** A: Here's the problem - the flanges don't come with the valve. This is weird since they are an integral part of the valve function. The valve won't shut anything off without a flange on each side. The pictures on amazon show the flanges in place. Even the picture on the included installation instructions show the flange in place. But they are NOT included and must be purchased separately. Even weirder is that they provide new seals with the valve, but the seals mount to the flanges, which are not included. This just isn't logical to me. The ABS pipe leading up to and coming away from the valve is ordinary 1.5: PVC that can be bought at any hardware store, but the flanges are specific to this valve and can only be bought from Valtera. Thankfully, Amazon carries them and they are cheap ($4). In my specific case, I bought the valve because my pipe broke off right at the valve. Since these are ABS fittings, they are all glued together and can't be taken apart for replacement. Of course I thought the flanges were part of the valve, so I bought the whole thing. But all I needed was the flange. So back the valve went and I ordered just the flange. Saved me $65, but cost me time to pack up and return the valve, and delay in getting my repair done. All of which could have been avoided had the description and pictures better described what the valve does and does not include.
