Another reason is that the barrel of this pen is wrapped in cowhide leather with a design dedicated for the city where I'm living now: Jakarta. So I didn't have a high expectation from this pen with a simple stainless-steel nib. But the feeling of confidence and quality when using this pen is a real nostalgia. Apparently Staedtler is keeping its position as a high quality stationery provider. First impressions are that it writes quite well. It's a stainless steel nib, of course, and quite stiff. It has the feel of my TWSBI FP when writing. The medium nib writes quite like a fine - like the Japanese pens (and TWSBI). You may want to look at the broad if you love the medium nibs. It's not a wet writer but unlike my "dry writers" I've used it doesn't seem to skip. It has a screw thread lid which I like - in fact it's the only element that harks to anything more than a £50 pen. I have to say it doesn't have the feeling of a £150+ pen - I have a diplomat excellence with SS nib and that has a definite more expensive feel.For a £40 pen I'd give a thumbs up but it's certainly no Parker sonnet.I think psychology I'd have been more impressed if the box had been a proper gift box rather than the paper/card box it came in (see photo).Like the other reviewers said too it has a heavy cap so you definitely wouldn't be wanting to write with the cap posted.Comes with fountain filler same as the Parker deluxe. Not bad these days with some companies choosing not to include them anymore.Pros - metallic solid feel. Nice leather cover on the base. Reliable flowCons - Cheap box Very stiff nib. Heavy cap so can't post during writing.
