Cradle cap is an ongoing battle. This cradle cap brush is just one of the tools in my arsenal.I've heard that oil works well, and it probably does. But I don't use that because I've read that if you don't wash it out thoroughly it can clog pours and make cradle cap worse. My baby usually lets me give him a long bath, but sometimes he wants out NOW or he spits up in the water or worse which cuts bathtime short, and I didn't want to risk having to take him out with his head full of oil.1. First I wash his hair with a cloth baby wipe and Dr. Bronner's baby soap. I leave the wet cloth on his head for a little while, while I wash the rest of him and then play with him a little bit. Meanwhile, the cradle cap softens up a little.2. Next, I use a fine comb and brush his hair up and out so it sticks up in all directions. This exposes his scalp, I can see the worst cradle cap spots and the brush bristles can reach the scalp through thick hair.3. I use the brush to lightly scrub the scalp, in little circles or zig zag motions. This will loosen up the edges of some of the flakes, and work some of them come of into the hair.4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until bathwater cools or until baby wants to leave the bathtub.5. Remove baby from tub. Dry baby and hair. Cradle cap will still be soft for a period of time.6. Some flakes will only be partially stuck to head, they can be loosened with a fingernail or toothbrush while baby is nursing or sitting in wrap. Loose flakes can be removed with fingernails or a fine comb.This is what I do, and the cradle cap brush definitely helped. It loosens up the edges of flakes in a large area. Baby now has isolated flakes on scalp, but before the brush had a pretty solid layer of cradle cap on his crown. Who after rubbing my finger on one I noticed it was a mild case of cradle cap. At first I used my nails gently on her scalp to try to remove the little dots but they remained. I looked up cradle cap on amazon and noticed this had a lot of great reviews. The brush is not white like the one in the photo its yellow with a white brush. Its really soft to the touch but is strong enough to massage the scalp. I used this brush along with honest companies lavender or orange shampoo and massaged my babys scalp with it during bath time. Over the next week almost all of the spots were gone. I still use the brush even though she doesn't have cradle cap anymore because it does a nice job getting the soap all in her hair and she likes how it feels. I will continue to use this brush on my baby until her hair is too long for it. I would imagine it would tangle in long hair. My husband has been known to take this brush out of the tub and use it during his shower as well. He loved how it feels on his scalp. This brush will be one of my go to baby shower items. I used up three brushes so far (every one needed its edges filed) and will buy more when bristles start coming out after about a year of vigorous use.
