When I asked my brother about good mats to buy, he first pointed me towards mats that cost $50 or more. Seeing as how I had never tried yoga, and how I didn't even know if I would like it, I didn't want to spend $50 or more on a class I was taking twice a week. We found this one, and because of the combination of generally positive reviews and the reasonable price, I purchased it. It's been good so far. It's just thick enough that the gym floor of my class doesn't bother me, but not so thick that I feel like I'm standing on a mattress. It is two sided, and I haven't tried the grey rippled side yet. I've noticed when I have a particularly vigorous session that the blue side tends to get a bit slippery.I've also noticed that after about four weeks of use twice a week, there are some small rips starting to appear in the blue side. I'm not sure if this is from use of from being carried to and from class, but at the price I wasn't really expecting it to last forever.My bottom line is it's a good beginner's yoga mat, but that's it. And I don't think it was in great shape when I got it...but no big deal.Here's the major problem: sometimes this thing kind of 'sticks' to my hardwood floor...which is great...but sometimes it's like a f*ing MAGIC CARPET.
