## Description

Amies media is Stuart's original media formula modified by replacing the glycerophosphate in the original formula for an inorganic phosphate buffer. The metabolism of glycerophosphate by coliform organisms and other Gram negative rods, in Stuart's original formulation, resulted in proliferation of these organisms from throat, wound and fecal specimens. A sterile soft rayon swab on a straight aluminum wire with a round bottom plastic tube containing 5ml of modified Amies clear semi-solid transport medium. Suitable for ear, nose, throat, eye and male urethral swab sampling. The “Venturi” (hourglass) design locks in the media and specimen, prevents shifting of media, prevents exposure to air, packaged in a clear oxygen barrier wrapper, keeps out oxygen, tamper-evident seal.

## Features

- No Dry Samples - immediate immersion in liquid or gel media protects sample integrity
- Better Sample Recovery - shown to maintain viability of both aerobes and anaerobes
- Easier Handling - smooth round bottom tube fits test tube rack; no more crimped bottoms
- Easier Recording - large pre-attached label for recording sample information and patient data
- Easier Sampling - extra long 5 1/4” swabs reach difficult sampling sites
