Three times a day at work, typically for 15-20 minute sessions. I find that although the pump strength isn't quite as good as it is when plugged into a wall outlet, even on completely charged batteries, it's still quite good for the first 15-20 minute session. If I pump a second time without charging the batteries, the suction is noticeably decreased but still workable. If I have to pump a third session without charging, it's downright annoying. It'll still work, just not very well. I've never gone more than that. So for me, it boils down to 45 minutes to an hour of pumping MAX. I keep a battery charger at my desk all day and charge in between sessions, which works well for me. If you need to pump more than 30-40 minutes without access to a charger, I'd recommend carrying multiple sets of batteries.
