I gathered that from the other reviews. 1/2 size up fit my daughter perfect. the toe box is nice and comfy. The heal is sturdy and wide for theatre dance. Perfect character shoes for musical theater. The sole is suede and great for dancing. We did have to add a hole to the strap, they are a bit tight for an 8 1/2. The look replicates the LaDuca shoe, minus the t-strap. Good for the price, would recommend for a novice. Probably not the best choice for professional theatre, but good for a teenager in 3-4 plays a year. the elastic built into the side of the shoe is great for toe pointing.
