Meaning that voltage/current are allowed to pass only when the magnet is near the sensor. For use as a tachometer, you would be reading pulses/second, or frequency. So data logging voltage wouldn't really work unless you worked some excel magic afterwards. **Q: what is the maximum length of the sensor wire? 44 inches is too short for my need. Can I lengthen it?** A: I installed this on my combine to measure the fan RPM speed. I needed to add more wire to reach the display mounted inside the cab. The total length of the wire is over 15 feet. I believe it would work at even a greater length.
