I had extensive knee surgery and learned I would be non-weight bearing for approximately 6 weeks. Crutches and/or a walker wasn’t going to cut it all the time at home, or going out. Due to the immobilizer brace, I had to have a wheelchair that included the leg/foot rests. Since it was a temporary situation, I didn’t want to spend a lot and after countless phone calls looking to rent a chair as well as searching on second hand sites, it became clear that purchasing a chair would be the best option. The Drive Medical Silver Sport arrived in 2 days and the only assembly needed was attaching the leg rests which is fantastic. It is incredibly durable, and I feel safe getting in and out of it as the wheel locks are easily accessible and work very well. I chose the larger size since I plan on keeping it and I wanted my husband to be able to use it if needed. It is a bit too large for some of our doorways (our house is old). It folds up easily for transport, but is a little heavy for me to carry down the stairs or put in the car due to my injury. I would recommend purchasing a wheelchair seat pad because the standard seat can be a bit uncomfortable if your are in the chair for an extended period of time.
