It allows you to look at all your lines in a comprehensive manner. I use mine as a quick-reference for which lines I should concentrate on as that's hard to see within a computer program. My only change would be that the back-side would also number the ancestors so that when you get to the point where you are picking and choosing lines to continue, you could conveniently carry through with the numbers & also that there would be a line for marriage dates in the further-back generations.
