The numbers have a positive click when rotating them. Some combination cables are too easy to reset, leading to accidental resetting to an unknown combination. This one isn't difficult at all, but impossible without a small flat head screwdriver. Just push the screw in, turn a quarter turn, set the new combination, then turn the screw back.The only issue I foresee with this, is the T shaped end. Some slots on laptops, especially the really thin "ultrabook" or "sleekbook" types have very little room to the sides of the slot. This one MIGHT not fit in some of those. The T isn't as wide as some I've seen though, so it may not be an issue at all.I have some of the Targus Defcon locks too. They don't need as much room to the sides of the slot. The build quality seems similar, if not a bit better, with these, and the Targus ones are about $10 more on average. I'm happy with these.edit: I've been using several of these for some time now, and I still like them very much. I've found the easiest way to lock them is dial in the code, then simply stick them in the slot, press, and turn. Make sure you turn in the direction so the numbers are easy to read, or you'll have to turn the laptop upside down or something to dial in the code. Also make sure it is centered in the slot, and that both pins go in the slot, or it isn't locked. Despite my wondering about how well they would work on sleekbooks and ultrabooks, they have fit every one I've tried.
