My hinges do stick out so I didn;t insulate there. Also the tape they provide wont keep the insulation up. I bought some gorilla glue brand adhesive and applied with a caulking gun. **Q: Does it fit flush to the door panels, or does it require an air gap between the foil side and the door panel?** A: it fits flush to door panels but they supply double sided tape to keep it in place **Q: I have a 3 car garage. A double door and a single door. What should I purchase to have enough for all 3 doors? The foam definitely help to keep a lot of heat out. The double sided tape that comes with it does NOT want to stick to the foam longer than 10 minutes. I even installed double the amount than shown. For each panel two rows double sided tape on top and two on the bottom. Applied with the included spatula, and let it site for several hours. Then applied the foam. Pressed it against the tape with the spatula, then with a towel and repeated it/ had to repeat it every 30 minutes. Opened the garage door the next day and the foam started to peel off right away. I got myself white duct tape and applied that to the top and bottom. That did the trick.
