This is because the bearings do not come greased. Spraying some silicone lubricant on the bearings made a world of difference. Now the lazy susan spins without noticeable friction. I used the port on the lazy susan to spray in grease, but you can easily just spray around the gap between the inner and outer ring. I'd suggest the latter, as the port on mine had a cross-threaded set-screw that was very difficult to unscrew; I think the port might have been for loading the bearings. Even with the lubricant, the bearings often make "chattering" noises. There are occasional times where the bearings seem to "catch" while spinning, but it happens mostly when the load is unbalanced and in only one orientation. For the price it's not a huge issue.
