It calms down shingles outbreak temporarily. A few months ago I learned my nephew (in his 40s) had a shingles outbreak around his neck. My daughter immediately ordered a jar to be sent to him (we were overseas at the time). When we returned, his wife told me that the minute she put that on his blisters, the pain stopped. She couldn't thank me enough. It is temporary relief, of course, but generally lasts quite a while. It can be applied as often as it is needed. My mother, years ago, found her only relief from postherpetic neuralgia by using this ointment. I've had a couple of other friends I've shared it with who also had good results. I even take it on trips just in case. Only down side is that it can stain your clothes.
