Regardless, I like this square a lot. It was the first square I bought, and if I only got to have one, this would be it. One nice feature is that there is a key on the blade lock, so that it remains in the correct position to receive the groove in the blade when the blade is removed. Everything would be Starrett satin chrome if I made the rules; it is a pleasant texture to look at.Now that Starrett has outsourced some of their manufacturing, it worries me a little that I couldn't find mention of "made in US" on the tool or box.
