The smallest width settings at hip (base) measures 32.6cm and 39.7cm at its the largest. Width of the shoulder (body) settings measure at its smallest 40.7cm and 48cm at the largest. Please check if there is enough space to fit the hifold at its largest shoulder settings between your already installed car seats. **Q: Can it be used in an airplane?** A: I don't think so. Airline approval is a separate standard. I had a britax seat designed for air travel. The lap belt secured the base of the seat, then the straps of the seat secured the child. It was a toddler seat though, I think once a child is 4+ then the lap belt is fine on an aircraft. Despite the funny looks I got taking it on the plane, it was great and really served its purpose. **Q: I see that this seat expires after 7 years from the manufacture date but I cannot find the date anywhere here - What is the manufacture date? My only niggle is that its not very ridged once all locked in place, especially the back and base section. My 5yr old seems very comfortable sitting in it.
