We hung them from the frame of our deck, charged them according to the package instructions, then placed the solar panel in a spot that would get adequate sun. They work beautifully and give off quite a bit of light. They are not too bright, but also provide enough light that we can see to walk up the deck stairs and get safely in or out. We have only had them for about a month or so, but so far we are very satisfied.
