I mainly cook wholewheat pasta which cooks to perfection in 9 minutes when covered with preboiled water from the kettle. I made the mistake of placing the lid loosely on top of the cooker when using it for the first time and it boiled over. The lid should be put on properly after the pasta is cooked in order to carry it safely from the microwave to the sink when it is then used for draining the water out of the specially made drainage holes. Make sure you hold the little handles on the sides. It's just trial and error with the other types of pasta until you get the amount of water and cooking time that cooks it in the way that you prefer. I emailed the seller with a query when I first bought the Fasta Pasta Cooker but I didn't get any response. Slid on? Clip on? Push on?** A: The lid is just a push fit **Q: Can you cook other types of pasta in this? Other than spaghetti** A: Yes you certainly can. I wouldn't be without my Pasta cooker. I cook whole wheat Penne in mine and it comes out perfectly. I like my pasta A la dente and check it at about 11 mins. I always pour off the boil water over my cooked pasta to rinse the starch off as it is less fattening that way, especially if you put it in the fridge overnight then you can eat it cold as in a tuna or chicken pasta salad or heat through gently in water and then drain and add the tuna or chicken mayo and tomato or whatever is to your taste. Pleased with results, not really much different from using a pot full of boiling water. Do not use lid when cooking because it may well overflow. Be careful when draining if using the lid to do so - you have to locate the lid properly and hold it by the edges so it does not come off which might result in scalding. Also, watch out for cooked pasta falling through measuring holes in lid when draining.
