## Description

Functions √ This incremental optical rotary encoder can be used to measure the rotational speed, angle and acceleration of the object and the length measurement. √ This shaft encoder is suitable for a variety of intelligent control displacement measurement, automatic fixed- length automatic guillotine paper machine, steel cut length control, civilian measured height human scale, students racing robots. Connection: Yellow = A phase, Blue = B phase, Red =Vcc power +, Black = V0 Notice: AB 2phase output must not be directly connected with VCC, otherwise, it will burn the output triode. Specification 360 p/r (Single-phase 360 pulses/R,Two phase 4 frequency doubling to 1440 pulses). -Encoder size: 38 x 35.5mm/1.49" x 1.39" -Shaft: 6 x 13mm/0.23" x 0.51" -Axis stopper platform: High 5mm, 20mm -Power source: DC 5-24V -Maximum mechanical speed: 5000 R / min -Response frequency: 0-20KHz Output: AB 2phase output rectangular orthogonal pulse circuit, the output for the NPN open collector output type Package content 1 x 360P/R Incremental Rotary Encoder

Review: Seems work great as an encoder, along with an Arduino board. - Using this an encoder for older games that support this type of controls. Seems to work fine when used in conjunction with an "Pro Micro" board.
Review: FIts the bill for what is needed. - Using these with arduino for position control. They work as advertised, although they will not be accurate down to a thousandth, which I did not need, they are well constructed and with the use of interrupts, don't miss much as far as movement goes. Will say a recommended buy when exact accuracy is not a necessity.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi i buy one of this encoder, but, the colors of the wires are red, black, white and green. some idea about the connections?**
A: Green is phase A and white is phase B you will need the red connected to positive voltage 5-24V and black to ground.Both phases will need to go to positive through a 2k pull up resistor. If you use arduino in my case Arduino Micro this is a sample code :
#define outputA 5
 #define outputB 6
void setup() {
   pinMode (outputA,INPUT);
   pinMode (outputB,INPUT);

}

void loop() {
  aLastState = digitalRead(outputA);
  aState = digitalRead(outputA); // Reads the "current" state of the outputA
   // If the previous and the current state of the outputA are different, that means a Pulse has occured
   if (aState != aLastState){
     // If the outputB state is different to the outputA state, that means the encoder is rotating clockwise
     if (digitalRead(outputB) != aState)
       counter ++;
     else
       counter --;

     Serial.print("Position: ");
     Serial.pr

**Q: Does anyone have a datasheet for this? I need to know the arrangement of the screw holes.**
A: Draw an equilateral triangle with 24mm long sides. The points are the hole centers.

**Q: is there a wire diagram for connection of the encoder to the ab 1400 plc?**
A: The encoder has the following wire connections Red>+24VDC Black>Ground Green and White Phase A and B. You'll need to wire to specific inputs though. For example, if you use the first high-speed counter, you'll wire A and B channels to inputs 0 and 1 (A/ and B/ won't be used) with the signal low encoder wire going to COM0. Then you'll need to configure the HSC function file for a two-channel high-speed counter. The ML1400 Referenece Manual (1766-rm001) has all the details about using the high-speed counter. The user manual (1766-um001) has some additional (generic) information about wiring.

**Q: What diameter do the threaded holes have?**
A: Hello, it belongs to M3 aperture

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems work great as an encoder, along with an Arduino board.
*by D***C on December 30, 2024*

Using this an encoder for older games that support this type of controls. Seems to work fine when used in conjunction with an "Pro Micro" board.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FIts the bill for what is needed.
*by T***A on February 22, 2026*

Using these with arduino for position control. They work as advertised, although they will not be accurate down to a thousandth, which I did not need, they are well constructed and with the use of interrupts, don't miss much as far as movement goes. Will say a recommended buy when exact accuracy is not a necessity.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5V operation is hit and miss
*by B***S on April 25, 2019*

Learned this the hard way - Not always reliable on 5V. We use a lot of these, and we always do 12V nowadays. The nice part though, is that the output is (well...can't actually promise this) is open collector, so you can use a pull-up resistor to your controller's voltage, which might be 5V, and run your inputs like that while still powering it by 12V. Check your individual encoder though, because only god knows how the PCB inside is configured, or you..if you open it or measure the outputs on a meter.
