Is it a sound or visual?** A: I missed any warnings. My key box battery died and I had to use a 9 volt battery on the outside of the unit to enter the code and ultimately open the key box. It wasn’t easy. **Q: do you need to have the lockbox with you to set up the app and control it, or could i ship this to a property out of state and still control it?** A: You cannot control it remotely without buying the separate gateway that connects to your wifi and connectivity via that gateway is hit or miss so you will want to be close to it to set it up. This LB has potential but they have alot of work to do. **Q: Does this work from another state? i want to put on in nc and i am in ny.** A: Yes, no problem. it is designed for remote usage, you can grant access without wifi to your visitors while you are in different state. This is because there is encrypted algorithm embeded in the chip for this functionality. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice lockbox with options *by V***A on January 8, 2021* Needed a lock box that I could open remotely in case something is wrong with my electronic door lock and this one fills my requirements. Once I read the manual I discovered I have a few options to open the box for rental guests that need a key to get into my beach rental condo. First I have 1 time codes that I can text to the guest and they can open with those. Second I can send them a bluetooth code if they choose to install the app. Third and most important I purchased the PopLife gateway and can open it via internet while a guest is standing outside my condo. Now word of warning, the gateway module needs to be fairly close to the box in order to communicate with it. I actually mounted it inside the wall right right behind the box on the outside wall. Was able to get power from the light switch and then the gateway communicates with the wifi inside the condo.Product works great and the unit was the only one I could find that I could open from anywhere that I am. Very happy with it so far. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Buy!! *by K***L on November 14, 2020* Great lockbox! Very secure and easy to use. I love the fact that I can use temporary codes for one time uses. And downloading the app is perfect. I can open the lockbox just by holding my phone near it. Do not have to enter a code. So cool!! ### ⭐ No customer service *by M***D on March 10, 2021* I have two of these key lock boxes. This one died after six months. The faceplate died and I replaced the batteries even those the power level reading in the Populife app said it was at 83% power left. The faceplate worked once and died again. I checked the batteries and they were overheated and too hot to handle. Once I got them out I tried another batch of batteries and the same thing happened. I'm concerned that this defect poses a fire hazard. I have emailed Populife directly twice, they are in China, and I have yet to receive a response. The box is now an expensive paperweight. It is a great box when it works but be careful.
