It does come with directions but they are in broken English. It's good though and it tells you what to do. You do have to install the product to your WiFi in order to use it as a live cam and to download video straight to your phone. When you first turn it on after it's been shut down you have to go into the app to switch it off otherwise your micro SD card will fill up. The night vision is great in low light but terrible in no light so I only gave it three stars for that. Video quality is excellent and adjustable. I got mine set to 1080 P. I would recommend.
