Unit has failed and was replaced with on more along the lines of commercial. Do not recommend you purchase spend more for one that is commercially rated. **Q: Can this be used outdoors as a passage lock ( non locking) near an ocean beach environment?** A: Yes, this can be used outdoors. I would caution though that any hardware close to the ocean will corrode over time. Nothing will stop the salt air from doing some coroding, not even the highest grades of stainless are protected from the salt water and will corrode over time.
