A: That’s my experience too. Mine reads about a point low.

**Q: Will it read hematacrut also**
A: No, it does not read hematocrit but there is an even better product that reads both hemoglobin and hematocrit.

A: Mine never was lower than 8.2, but the manual says it measures from 0 to 25 g/dL.

A: Yes but I recommend you get blood work regularly from your doctor and find the root cause of your anemia. The machine is accurate but pretty expensive.

I ordered the Hemocue because a new one cost like $1700 dollars. I thought I would give it a shot since the machine is self calibrating and just needs to work. I got the package containing the reader and the power cord but the little movable piece that you place the blood sample is missing. I am buying this to replace an old one so technically, i can just recycle the part but if I didn't have an old machine, I would be stuck with a machine that I can't use. Also, the picture shows the machine in a new box, but what i got was just the reader and power cord in an Amazon box.
