I have had several types of pumps Laing, Swift tech, Alphacool over a long water cooling history, one I still had as a back up and yesterday did i need it! yes Laing make the majority of pumps now days but wasnt always the case. A 17 year old Swift tech DDC is whats currently propping up my system after a total failure of EK's D5 pwm pump banging and clanging stuck!!! caused a total system cooling failure and shutdown, then onto a total system tear down!!!! 6 months after a Hardline pipe install that's all had to be chopped up to get the pc running again with a separate pump & res in a temporary loop!! once out and inspected, no debris, no residue no nothing in the impeller assembly, just a failed pump! ( my preferred cooling method lab grade distilled water) there's no gunk! nothing to blame! I'm very disappointed EK and left with limbo rig having to wait on RMA, rebuild and re pipe! looking for a suitable quality replacement Corsair stuff has to much plastic!! AquaComputer stuff looks to be the way forward ! Edit: I don't think ill ever buy EK pumps and Res again, I decided on an AquaComputer Ultitube 200 pro Next and what can i say wow its been in a couple weeks, the aqua suite software with it is superb, EK I think you've some serious catching up to do and it was only about £30 odd more than your top offerings! Can you mount this system horizontal insteal of vertical?** A: Yes **Q: Does the reservoir rotate in relation to the pump? In the picture it shows that the ports are positioned straight out from the mounting of the pump.** A: The Pump has ports coming out of the front and has fill ports on the top of the resevoir, you can rotate the pump so that the ports are facing where you want them too by loosening some screws on the retention bracket. The resevoir is just a cylinder that is screwed onto the pump. **Q: I measure 3/8” ID on the pump res but you call it 1/4”. Is this just a “rounding error” or do you think it doesn’t matter?** A: The pump takes 1/4” fittings. The actual fittings are 1/4” ID, so the ID of the pump itself will match match the OD of the fitting, which would be 3/8” **Q: Will this mount to a 140mm fan or is a separate bracket is needed?** A: It will only mount to the case with included hardware. You need an EK UNI Pump Bracket Vertical to mount to a fan like I have. They come in both 120mm and 140mm sizing.
