You squeeze the handles together and the monkey flips around the ropes. I'd say this toy is worth between $5 and $10, for reference. If the price is higher than that on amazon, then order it off a different website. I have a girl acrobat just like the monkey that we got at a little Christmas festival. That one is called Amazin' Acrobats and it's by Neato.
