Review: Works with Xbox 360 E - Hitachi physical drive - I just got this 500 GB drive for my Xbox 360 E console, and it worked right away. My Windows system device manager indicates the physical drive is a 'Hitachi HTS547550A9E384', although yours may be another manufacturer or type. Let's hope the drive continues to work from this point forward, or I'm going to have to downgrade my opinion.

As others have noted, this hard drive won't allow you to play classic Xbox games. To my knowledge, this is something that Microsoft does to discourage the use of third-party devices (which makes sense, considering how much they charge for their own devices). If this is a dealbreaker, then you might consider procuring yourself a first-party hard drive for those games exclusively and use this only for 360 games. That being said, if you're in the market for more storage on your 360, you can't go wrong with this thing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fully Xbox 360 Compatible and works with Emulator (With additional steps)

I bought this drive to upgrade an Xbox 360 that didn’t originally come with a hard drives. Once locating and removing the hidden panel, installation was literally plug and play. I tried playing an original Xbox game and found that the compatibility feature was not working. I downloaded the FATXplorer software followed the online instructions for copying the emulator files to the “backwards compatibility” partition also known as partition 2 and reinstalled the drive (has to be connected to a PC to use FATXplorer. Now my 360 can play original Xbox games AND has 460GB of space and I didn’t have to buy a used MS drive. This drive already comes with the FatX compatibility partition so you don’t have to repartition it to install the emulator software. Totally worth the money!
