Seems well-suited for the job. *by N***. on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2021* Day-1 Review (To Be Updated When I Inevitably Wreck): After a lot of research, I chose these pads for use with an electric unicycle actually because of some NEGATIVE reviews: specifically the reviews claiming they're too big and then showing side-by-side images where these dwarf competitors. For my use case, I considered that a GOOD thing! My figuring was: generally you're going to crash and burn at a lot slower speeds skating than on a midrange personal electric transport like mine, and also in a more uniform fashion (based on the flailing EUC crash videos I've seen), so if I'm going wipe out WILDLY at 30MPH on an electric vehicle while wearing skate pads rather than, say, motorcycle gear, I want those pads to be as wide and robust as possible. The "Heavy Duty" branding of the KP-22 knee pads and promotional images depicting a downhill longboarder rather than park skater honestly did wonders to sway my interest away from the cheaper Protecs and more expensive (& tougher but thicker/less wide) 187 Killer Pads.The pads are comfortable, and the fit is good. I'm a 5'8" 170lbs guy with a bit of muscle from years on/off in the gym, and went with Medium. I have relatively thick upper legs from heavy squatting, so the thigh flap barely connects to the opposing Velcro, but the follow-up strap that goes over ensures all is well-secured. Albeit feeling a bit tight initially, the pads started to wear in nicely after just an hour of casually wearing them around the house, and then struck the perfect balance of allowing complete freedom of movement whilst staying snug during activity.This is a pre-asphalt-eating review, so I honestly can't yet comment on actual durability performance in such case quite yet, but just from look, feel, fit, and a couple minor test falls I FEEL safe in them even at 30MPH, worn alongside Triple Eight Hired Hands wristguards and a full-face bicycle helmet. Will update in the event of catastrophe. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Kind of expensive, but seem well built *by D***D on Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2021* Honestly, these might be a bit overkill for my purposes (in-line rollerblading in the park, no tricks), but I'm not as young anymore and don't want an injury to put me out for a while. They're bulky and well padded which means they're a tad unwieldy, slightly get in the way, but make me feel very safe and protected. The knee pad itself has a sturdy plate which lets you slide if you fall and the sides are also covered sufficiently enough so you don't get road rash on the side of your knee when you spin out (which I have done a few times since I'm a complete novice). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good protection, but comes with a some down sides. *by J***H on Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022* I bought both the 187 Killer pads and the Triple 8 EP55 & KP22 Elbow Pads and knee pads to compare.They are both good pads, but they both have upsides and downsides.For the 187 Killer Pads, the upside is they are quality construction and I believe they would provide a lot of protection in a fall. Padding is thick and adequate, if not a bit stiff. I would have liked to see a little more pliable padding, but I imagine that would require even thicker padding, making the whole pad thicker and bulkier. This brings me to the two downsides, which are related.The 187 Pads are bulky... bulkier than the Triple 8 pads, which is probably due to the extra padding sizes. The 187 pads have a bit more padding, making them bulkier. In addition to the bulky pads, the Large (which I purchased) was too tight. It cut off circulation in my arms and severely restricted my movement. The Triple 8 pads did not restrict my movement in any meaningful way and did not cut off my circulation, and were easier to put on and take off.While the 187 Killer Pads might offer slightly more protection, the convenience of putting them on the and the lack of movement restriction, and slightly less bulkiness make the Triple 8 elbow pads superior to the 187's. If you want the ultimate protection and don't care about your movement, then the 187s might be a better option, but buy 1 or 2 sizes up... both the knee and elbow pads are sized WAY too small, though the knee pads are substantially smaller than they should be, the elbow pads are maybe one size too small whereas the knee pads are two sizes too small.In the pic, you can see the 187s on the left and the Triple 8 on the right for the elbow pads and the Triple 8 on the left and 187s on the right for the knee pads (sorry about that). You can see my veins popping more on the 187 elbow pads because it was cutting off circulation.The knee pads were similarly tight, and there was no way I could have slipped these over jeans or anything thicker than my thin sweats, which was still a struggle. My movement in the knees was SEVERELY restricted on the 187s, whereas the Triple 8s did not restrict my movement at all. I think the 187 knee pads would offer a bit more protection in a fall, but at the cost of movement, the difficulty of putting them on and taking them off, and them being too tight, there's no way I could recommend them.I'll be keeping the Triple 8 and sending the 187s back. I would like to have liked the 187s more, but the sizing made that impossible.
