Its flash point is much higher than comparably priced peat moss which is very important if you are going to use this with plants harvested from say the caldera of an active volcano as my Dionea was. At least that is where I imagine it came from. A PLANT THAT EATS FLIES!!!! That is insane! And, well the lil' bugger was on its way out before this peat moss and now it is eating flies with gusto and grace. THANK YOU HOFFMAN GOOD EARTH SPHAGNUM!!! More? YES! If you have sandy soil that loses moisture quickly, dig your planting hole about three times larger than you ordinarily would. Mix peat moss into the soil you removed, about 50/50. If you have heavy, compact soil, also dig the larger hole. Mix that soil 1/3 soil, 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite. Make sure to dig the hole deep enough to have a good foot of modified soil beneath and around the roots. Pack down firmly.
