Before applying the gel you take must use a nail file and take it over your nails to make the surface a little bit rough. It needs this to grip. I don’t use a base coat when using the 5 in 1. Iv also found if my polish chips, a quick rub of the nail file and some 5 in 1 and a top up of polish and you don’t see the chip. It seems to level out very well. Hope this helps. Also I cure for 1 minute between coats. **Q: I wanted to paint my nails with clear varnish, can you use this to layer onto nails?** A: Yes it is clear and shiny plus makes your nails strong, it’s a win win **Q: I used about 5-6 layers of this and it didn’t become hard or shiny as described it still seemed wet each time. What am I doing wrong?** A: You need to cure each layer under led lamb for at least a minute and I used cuticle oil to rub over nail as it does recommend alcohol wipes to take off any sticky layer but I found that the oil worked well wash hands after you do this and you will not find that they go shiny buy a clear base coat and top coat and cure each one under led lamb for same time each application it’s a lot of trial and error with this some times it needs extra time under lamb or not so many layers . I’ve never had my nails done professionally so I watched several tutorials to find out how to prep properly and apply. I started off just using Mylee’s gel polish and was happy with the additional layer of strength it gave my nails but having paper thin nails I knew I needed something stronger. I’ve heard horror stories about builder gels and allergies but hoped that by using a HEMA free one, curing properly and not getting any product on my actual skin/cuticle I would hopefully avoid having similar reactions. I prepped nails and applied the ‘peach’ builder gel from Mylee as per their YouTube tutorial (definitely not perfectly) and I’m so pleased with how they’ve lasted. Left photo shows after I did them on 05/11 (with a half nail in ‘the sky is not the limit’ + top coat) and they lasted until I took them off 26/11 (right photo). No lifting, no broken nails and a fairly decent amount of growth. Prior to using gel polishes I was incapable of growing and maintaining length on my nails as they always break. Though I’m only a couple of months in to using Mylee/gel products and don’t want to be over confident, I am currently very happy and would recommend.
