This was a nice compromise, every day there was an ornament or present to hang on the tree or put in a box. This product came wrapped in a thin plastic covering. When my daughter saw it, she thought it was a book at first. The presentation was nice enough to send out as a gift to other family members. The calendar folds out nicely when you first open it and there is no need to assemble anything.At first it was difficult for my daughter to open each of the boxes and hang the ornaments on the tree, but about half way though the month she got used to it. She was excited each morning to open the next days' box and regularly wanted to open more than one.I would recommend this advent calendar for families with children from 3+. My family has always been a fan of Eric Carle's artwork and stories. This is a really neat popup tree and you place a decoration each day on the tree. My daughter is 4 years old, and she loves to grab someone from the family to put the daily ornament on the tree.It's a simple concept, and it's done well. It makes the Christmas season special when you get to see the joy on children's faces when they open that day's new door.It probably won't last another year, and will be a throw-away after Christmas. You can't really close the doors once they're pried open, and the ornaments are punched out, so they don't really go back after you've taken them out.
