It is actually just a thin, jelly type plastic sheet that just lays over the top of your keyboard. It stays on surprisingly well while typing and doesn't interfere with closing the laptop. I have a 2019 Dell XPS and this fits the keyboard 99% perfectly. The light for the Caps Lock key is slightly off the cutout, personally I don't care even a little bit. The backlit keyboard distorts the look of the keyboard cover since the cover is moderately see through so I just turned mine off. Again, not something that bothered me at all. I am very happy with this, especially for the price.
