I have been wanting to put down new tiles and I had a hard time trying to get the perfect measurements for the door way. I also been wanting to down some our door rugs but have this awkward part of my house where it does not fit. This really solved my problems for this job and is very simple to use. If you are confusd on how this works I would say that the best way to describe this is that it is like those sculpture stainless steel pin art impressions toys that you may have seen kids use. They use several different thin plastic pieces to create an impression of the object you are trying to create a measurement around. This makes it easy to put down tiles, carpets, and pretty much anything you think may be difficult to measure out. This one comes with three contour measurement tools. The blue being the largest and the red/teal being the shortest. The red and teal are the exact same in terms of size. It is very simple to use in that you just need to press the device against the area you are measuring. Note that you do not have to put a TON of pressure and also that you should not exert too much pressure as you may actually cause the object to go between the plastic pieces and bend them. Once you have the right measurement, you slide the black plastic sheet up to that location to essentially lock it into place and then you begin the trace. It comes with a three graphite pencil (with a sharpener) so you do not have to buy or looking for one. It also comes with a very short and simple ruler so you can get additional measurements if needed. I do wish it did come with someone kind of carrying case to keep these together but that is more so my preference. It gives you the best closest measurement you can get so that you are able to easily cut out whatever you need to fit the area. What is nice about having three is what you can pretty much get measurements around a larger object all at once which is great. For me, these tools gave me a pretty close measurement of my door way so I was able to the best cut out when I was installing my new carpet. Overall this is a very nice and sturdy tool to have. It makes your life so much simpler so you are not sitting there doing a bunch of measurements and trial/error. You save a ton of time. Again do not try to force the device into whatever you are trying to measure as you may actually bend and break the device. It is made from plastic and comes with tools (pencils and sharpener). It sure makes a huge difference when cutting since it is much easier and you can do it faster. You could probably find a much better one for cheaper. The plastic is low quality and feels cheap. I recommend loosening the screw a bit too, mine was a little too tight and didn’t work as well on my test part. Does the job, but the quality won’t last long unfortunately.
