I have used it to repair the surface of castings. In response to your question I took a piece of origami and sprayed it. The spray did not do any damage to the paper. The paper was left with a mild sheen. One coat did not make it stiff. Maybe more coats would make it stiffer. It did look like the paper had a protective coating. **Q: Will this harden and protect a sand dollar -- basically keep the sand dollar from cracking and breaking?** A: No, this isn't what you're looking for. This is a sealant for resin, not other products. However, you might consider either 1: brushing or dipping the sand dollar in resin, or 2: Triple Thick Sealer. I think resin will probably work best for you--check out the website Resin Obsession for more info. (Not affiliated, just love 'em.) **Q: can it be used to coat baked polymer clay coasters and can it be used indoors?. How strong are the fumes?** A: It can be used to coat baked polymer clay pieces, but you could end up getting a "cloudy" look if there's any humidity in the air. This thing has pretty strong fumes and I definitely wouldn't recommend it indoors. The bottle says to use in a well-ventilated area, and I'm assuming that means "under a venting hood" if you're planning on doing it indoors. **Q: What is this product mainly used for and do I need to buy it?** A: No you don't "need" to buy it. It's used to seal off resin pieces to protect them from finger prints, fill in minor flaws and such.
