Thanks.** A: They would be safe for a septic system - they dissolve pretty quick, BUT they are not good labels! The do not stick to your jars for long. They peel and fall off. I will never buy them again. **Q: Are these labels made in china? the seller says "crafting...in the usa" which is different from "made in the usa".** A: Don't bother - very little adhesive on the back and does not stick!!!! **Q: What is the best permanent marker that last on this item and works consistently in cold weather?** A: Any "permanent" marker should work but these labels dissolve easily when wet, so permanence is not what I would worry about. It washes off right in water and if you use a sponge to scrub a little depending on how long the label was on the container for.
