For me, it does not work as a bath rug because of the material; it is not soft and fluffy -- I wouldn't classify it as a "rug" but rather, a short-haired or bristled mat. The largest problem might be that darned fold down the middle that other folks are mentioning too. Mine was folded, causing the mat to rise up in the middle and to move. I tried leaving heavy books on it but not even the weight of William Shakespeare's complete works could flatten this mat! I almost gave it 2 stars (1 star would have been for the look; I love the palm trees!) but I gave it 4 stars because it works great as a mat under my dogs' food bowls and it stays flat there.
