It is a temporary mound. If you’re going to use it often. My suggestion is to upgrade to a heavy duty one. This one in not made for iron cleats. They wear out quick. **Q: are the steel plates for nailing down removeable?** A: No, they are molded into the pitching rubber to be secured in the ground by the included steel stakes; there are other models without steel brackets if you search web for that style, Thanks! **Q: Does this product have to be used with spikes or could it be used as a throw down rubber for in a garage? Thanks!** A: You can use without spikes by taping it to floor. Use painters tape if you plan on using it periodically... comes up easily. One strip each "horizontally" along front and back edges, then three strips "vertically" over the the top of rubber. Make sure tape is pushed into corners between floor and rubber forming a 90 degree edge... otherwise won't hold. If daughter is older, might hafta use duct tape (though that could leave residue/mark behind when peeled up). **Q: Where is it made ?** A: Our mound rubber is a #10115 and is made in Taiwan. After two years of continuous use it is still going strong.
