Review: Great for a beginner! - If you can't afford a french horn and don't need more trumpets in band, this is a great alternative, especially when this can be used outside. I prefer the adapter for the horn mouthpiece so it can sound more like a horn, but I prefer holton mouthpieces, not the one provided. The intonation is a little flat due to the adapter, but the kids learn to adjust. I move kids to horn their second year.
Review: Cheap .... for a reason - Poor quality. Slow valve action. Mellos are not easy to keep in tune, this goes well beyond that.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice instrument for the price
*by A***R on October 23, 2021*

My son is a French horn player who started playing mellophone with the school pep band this year. Since the school only had a loaner that my son had to carry home each day on the bus, we decided to get a lower cost mellophone to keep at home. This one has a nice tone and great intonation anywhere in the register. We recommend it, it's a great instrument for the price if you have a beginner.
