I didn't buy them for coffee grinding as there were so many negative posts about them grinders for that purpose. I wanted to use them for pepper and salt. The 'fat' bottom comes off so that you can empty it of whatever you have been grinding. I find that it grinds peppercorns to finely for me. But that's just me. They are small, but they are beautiful and in my humble opinion, well made. I love the way they look and if nothing else, they will be a wonderful addition to the decor of my redo of my kitchen. So it just depends on how fine you like your pepper ground. I like a more coarsely ground pepper, these mills grind anything to a fine powder. Still, for me, I found them to be worth the money. The details are lovely. Its one of my favorites. It is 4 inches tall. Its "basin", where the grounds go, is about 2 inches in diameter. And yes, it makes a great pepper or sea salt grinder. I use it for sea salt. I have a dozen of these grinders of all shapes and sizes and I use them for all my peppers and salts for cooking and seasoning. That, and they make your kitchen shelves look really cool ; ) **Q: Does this actually grind finely enough for turkish coffee brewing? I've read about it being too coarse on other similar products on amazon.** A: Grounds are not as fine as turkish coffee you get at restaurants but fine enough that, after brewing, the grinds settle to the bottom.
