I would see them growing wild as a child and it was a treat to find a ripe one before the deer got to them. Found some sold at a local market and remembered how much I enjoyed them. They are seasonal however and I can only find them fresh in the Nov-Dec timeframe. I came across Fruit for Thought when I did a search to see if dried persimmons were offered online. What a great snack! I can’t recommend them enough! They are mildly sweet and very flavorful and if you enjoy fresh persimmons you will not be disappointed with this product. The slices of fruit in each bag are of varying size but they are all of very good quality. I have probably gone through six or eight bags of these over the last year. Guess it’s ok however since they are a pretty healthy snack. Anyway, as I said earlier, I really can’t recommend Fruit for Thought dried Hachiya Persimmons enough! At first touch I was reluctant to eat it because it feels really hard but it’s not. You still have to bite but not hard. It’s also not extremely chewy either, which I really like. You can still taste the persimmon too. Even if you don’t like persimmons give it’s try. The only ingredient is persimmon. No added sugars, no sodium, no fat. A very healthy snack!Also if you are expecting dried persimmons that you find in Asian stores, this is not it.
