Wiped down all the inside of the wood frame with a bleach solution, wiped off the heater with a milder bleach solution, double-washed all my bedding in hot water and borax (1/2 cup borax + some detergent in each load), and put in a completely new liner and watermattress. Put 4 1/2 oz "Aqua Fusion Premium" waterbed conditioner in the new (full motion, no fiber fill) mattress, I will see how that works out.I think the reason my original mattress got mold in it was when I first filled it, I opened the port and left it open for a couple of minutes while pouring the conditioner in. While it was open it "took a deep breath", seemed to really inhale because of the pressure of the fiber filling, and this probably allowed it to take in a whole bunch of mold spores. I recommend that instead, DO NOT open the port until you have thehose with the fill fitting on its end, right there handy. AS SOON AS you pull the little plug out of the port, jam the fill-hose fitting (looks like an oblong cage with a ring that screws onto the port) and jam it right in there immediately. Fill the bed with about 2 inches of water, THEN stop the filling, pull out the fill hose fitting for a minute, pour in the conditioner, then plug the fill hose back in and continue the fill. Long story short made my parents room smell awful.
