These are a very useful, and inexpensive solution for maintaining the ability of adjustable fan speeds among each section/group of fans on each board header, as opposed to resorting to 5V/12V 2-pin molex or SATA power adapter cables with static, inflexible fan speeds, which can either be far too loud, or provide insufficient airflow between voltages.
